3L SCORES SECOND $3,000 VICTORY AT FARMER CITY!!
Jeff took the lead early and came out on top of a great battle with Matt Mevert to score his second $3,000 feature win of the season, besting 41 other cars on hand Friday night at Farmer City. The 3L immediately jumped to the race lead and would hold off the charges of Mevert until the first caution flag appeared on lap 15. The double-file restart would see Mevert take the race lead at this point and lead until Leka would retake the lead from Mevert on lap 26. Leka would survive one final caution four laps from the finish and hold on to take the victory.
On Saturday, the 3L team headed to Fairbury for the second leg of the AMS Land of Lincoln Triple Shot weekend. 52 cars were on hand as Jeff started 17th in the feature and drove all the way up to sixth at the finish. To conclude the weekend on Sunday, the team went to Spoon River for the AMS finale where 49 cars were in attendance as Jeff won his heat and finished runner-up in the feature. A solid weekend for the 3L team! -- Sep 2

Three Top Fives for 3L; 2L Gets Closer to Victory
It was another busy week for Leka Racing as the 3L raced Thursday through Saturday while the 2L raced on Friday. On Thursday, the 3L went to Macon to race in the Modified Nationals event paying $1,000 to win. Jeff qualified fifth in his group, got second in his heat after starting fifth, and advanced one spot in the feature to finish fourth.
On Friday, the 3L and 2L raced at Farmer City. Justin qualified eighth while Jeff was 17th as the team continued to battle fuel pressure problems. The 2L moved up from fourth to second in the heat while the 3L advanced to sixth after starting ninth in his heat. In the feature, it was a battle of the Leka's for third as son beat father with Justin finishing third and Jeff rallying from 11th to get fourth. The 2L is getting ever so close to his first victory.
On Saturday, the 3L traveled to Fairbury for a $1,200 to win special. Jeff qualified 12th, got fourth in his heat race, and ran a strong fifth after starting tenth in the feature. All in all a solid week for Leka Racing as hopefully the fuel pressure issues that hampered the 3L team are gone. -- Jul 13
Top Fives for 3L and 2L at Farmer City
The 3L and 2L teams traveled to Farmer City on Friday to wrap up a busy week for Leka Racing. The night started out bad for the 3L as Jeff went over the top of the backstretch resulting in no qualifying time. With 19 cars in attendance he was still assured a starting spot in the feature. He started eighth in his heat race and moved up to second. The 2L started third in his heat and finished fourth. Jeff started third in the feature and early on was part of a good three car battle for the lead but just didn't have enough to get around the front pair on this night. He lost a spot late to get fourth at the finish. As for Justin, he started eighth in the feature and was on the move. He was up to sixth after two laps and up to fourth a couple laps later. He dropped a spot to fifth but finished right on his dad's bumper at the finish for his first top five of the season.
Earlier in the week the 3L raced in the Modified Nationals events. On Wednesday at Jacksonville Jeff won his heat race and finished sixth in the feature. On Thursday at LaSalle he started 13th in the feature and charged up to fifth at the checkers. -- Jul 5
3L Fourth at Kankakee Modified Nationals
The 3L team traveled to Kankakee on Friday for a $3,000 Modified Nationals event. 42 mods were on hand with Jeff qualifying third in his group, fourth overall. In the toughest heat race of the night, the 3L ran second, putting him inside of the fourth row for the feature. Jeff worked his way to fourth and was making the pass for third with one to go when a caution came out, putting him back in fourth and that's where the 3L would finish on this night. A solid run against a strong field of cars. -- Jun 14
All Three Lekas in Action Friday, 3L Visits Haubstadt for First Time
For the first time this season all three Leka Racing teams were in action. The 3L and 2L went to Farmer City while the 20 made his season debut at Lincoln. At Farmer City Jeff qualified fifth and Justin ninth. The 3L started third in his heat and finished fourth, while the 2L started fifth in the same heat and got sixth. In the feature, the 3L started seventh and drove up to second at the checkers while the 2L started 11th and moved up to seventh. At Lincoln Jeffrey started on the pole of his heat and got third, but moved up in the feature, starting ninth and finishing fifth.
On Saturday the 3L team made their first visit to Tri-State Speedway in Indiana for a $3,000 to win Modified Nationals event. 49 cars were on hand as Jeff qualified third in his qualifying group and finished third in his heat race. Having to race his way in to the show through the semi, he was fourth, locking him into the main event. Starting 16th in the feature he pulled off before the finish with car problems. The team was impressed with their first visit to Haubstadt. -- Jun 9
3L Third at Fairbury Saturday
The 3L team made their first trip to Fairbury this season on Saturday. Jeff qualified ninth fast out of the 31 cars on hand. Being ninth last year at FALS would have meant the best he could do was start ninth in the feature, but with Fairbury changing their format this season and removing the "lock 8", nobody was locked into the feature. Thus a good heat race finish would ensure Jeff a good starting position. Starting second in his heat, the 3L took the win and would start outside of the front row in the feature. In the feature, Jeff battled with Justin DeLong for second and later with Tommy Duncan as the 3L would finish third on this night. -- May 18
Great Run Ends in Heartbreak for 3L at Illini 50
Leka Racing was racing with heavy hearts on Saturday as Jeff's dad passed away earlier in the day. For a good portion of the Illini 50 feature it looked like Jeff might pull off a big win for his dad but it wasn't meant to be on this night. Starting sixth in the feature, the 3L got up to second early and inherited the lead on lap 13 when the leader fell out of the race. From there he built up a straightaway lead and looked to cash in on the $5,000 payday. But a flat tire on lap 34 would spoil the great run. After changing the tire and restarting 12th, Jeff got back up to sixth and looked to salvage a top five finish but while battling for fifth with two laps to go he got pushed off the track on the backstretch ending his night.
In semi feature action, the 2L started sixth and was looking to get into the top three to advance into the feature. While running fourth and the laps running out, Justin made an exciting three wide pass to take second and lock himself into the main event. Unfortunately engine problems would sideline him in the feature. A solid weekend for the 2L as Justin has adapted quickly to his new style car.
Leka Racing would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, and kind words during this difficult time. -- Apr 6
